RY3T | Digital Heating
The number of PV systems will increase significantly in the future, as will periods of surplus solar power that put stress on the grid. The RY3T ONE is a digital heating system for single-family homes that uses the waste heat from computing to heat buildings and water. This allows surplus solar energy to be used twice: first for computing, then for the resulting heat. The device contains two high-performance computers whose waste heat is absorbed by a cooling liquid and transferred into the building's heating circuit via a heat exchanger. The computing power can be used for AI applications or Bitcoin mining.
During the development process, it was important to us to transfer the disruptive technological approach equally to the design. The simple, hexagonal shape is more reminiscent of a spaceship’s energy core than a conventional heater. Side cutouts serve as striking design elements while also functioning as practical handles for transport and installation. Instead of a display, indirect lighting indicates the device’s status through changing colors. A central viewing window offers a fascinating glimpse inside, directly onto the computers immersed in cooling liquid.
